Food Issues

We went out for lunch today with the kids. If ever we go out, we almost always go to the same restaurant and I pretty much always order the same food because I love it so much but this week, I’ve decided to go on a diet and try and deal with the extra pounds I’ve put on so I chose something healthier instead. Tom, who always orders steak, ordered the meal that I always have. He also ordered the drink I always get and even had the dessert I would choose, yet he never normally eats dessert. Throughout the entire meal, he sat there eating all of my favourite foods making appreciative noises and talking about how great it was and how much I was missing out by not having my usual meal. When I asked him why he was doing it, he feigned innocence and said I was being paranoid.

When I didn’t finish the meal I’d ordered because I was full up, Tom’s mood changed completely. He raised his voice and told me to eat it and stop wasting food. I told him I wasn’t hungry and he said that was a lie and that the only reason I wasn’t eating was to spite him and to annoy him. He then made such a scene that I ate the rest of the meal just to keep the peace even though it pained me to do so.

In the evening, just four hours after finishing lunch and after having heartburn and indigestion all afternoon from too much food, Tom ordered a curry. I told him I was still full up and didn’t want any and he literally started screaming at me about constantly trying to spite him and how everything I did was just to annoy him. He said that I was hungry and that I would eat it and he went ahead and ordered enough for me anyway.
